Polish Cabbage and Noodles

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 small sweet onion, sliced
  • 8 ounces white button mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/2 head cabbage, shredded I used about 1 1/3 pound of cabbage
  • 8 ounces egg noodles
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper


  1. Cook noodles according to package directions

  2. in a large skillet over moderate heat melt butter

  3. Cook onion in butter until softened

  4. Add the mushrooms and cook for 5 minutes or until slightly browned and softened

  5. Add cabbage to the mushrooms and onion and cook for 10 minutes or until softened

  6. Season with salt and pepper

  7. Mix the vegetables and egg noodles together

  8. Add the sour cream and stir well

  9. Season to taste with salt and pepper as desired
