Green Chile Cheeseburgers: Secret Recipe Club

  • 1 pound ground chuck
  • Hefty pinch of kosher or coarse sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin
  • A few grinds of black pepper
  • 1 small can of chopped green chiles
  • 4 deli slices Pepper Jack or Colby Jack cheese
  • 4 buns
  • lettuce
  • tomato
  • onion
  • mayonnaise


  1. Combine the ground chuck, salt, garlic powder, cumin, and pepper together.
  2. Form into 4 even patties. Grill or fry turning once if needed until meat reaches 165 degrees.
  3. Top with green chiles and cheese. Let patties rest until cheese melts.
  4. Assemble and serve.
