Slow Cooker Dulce de Leche #SecretRecipeClub

Slow Cooker Dulce de Leche is rich and easy to make.

Slow Cooker Dulce de Leche

Hello, fabulous people. Today is Secret Recipe Club day. This month I got Smells Like Brownies as my assignment. Brownies are my favorite chocolate dessert so the blog name is perfect.

My first thought was to make a pizza using the Lahey Pizza Crust recipe and I wish I could tell you why I didn’t but I plum forgot. Spinach and Black Bean Enchiladas also made my short list as well.

I finally decided to make crockpot dulce de leche. It has been something I have wanted to try for awhile but just never got around to it. October is the perfect time to make it because the caramel taste pairs really well with apple and pumpkin.

Unlike a lot of slow cooker recipes this is one you will need check on throughout the cooking process. You will need to check the water levels to make sure the can is completely submerged. I didn’t need to add any water with the slow cooker I have now but with one of my old ones I probably would have needed to add water.

Other than that this is a super simple recipe to make. I can’t wait to use the slow cooker dulce de leche in recipes.

  • 14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk s
  • Water

  1. Remove label from sweetened condensed milk
  2. Place on its side in the slow cooker
  3. Cover with water until the water reaches 2 inches above the can. In my six quart oval it was almost full. I think a round slow cooker would take less since the water would be going up instead of out
  4. Cover and cook on low 8 to 10 hours
  5. When the time is up, carefully remove the can from the slow cooker
  6. Let the dulce de leche cool for several hours before opening to prevent burns
  7. Once opened transfer to another container with a lid
  8. Keep refrigerated

  1. How cool!

  2. This is perfect for this time of year when apples are abundant. I can just taste how wonderful they would be dipped in this dulce de leche
