Italian Pie is a tasty casserole that is easy to whip up on a weeknight.

This is another super easy and yummy recipe that lends itself to many variations. The filling has a taste that is similar to but not a clone of pizza. This is another recipe that although we really like it I don’t make it that often for some reason.

  • 2 cans crescent rolls
  • 1 to 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 2 cups spaghetti sauce
  • 1 medium onion , chopped
  • 1 bell pepper , chopped
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese , divided
  • salt


  1. Preheat oven to 350°. In 9 by 13 baking dish place one can of crescent roll dough on bottom- pinching to seal if the kind in the triangles. In a large skillet over medium heat brown ground beef, onions and peppers seasoned with salt and pepper to taste. Drain off any fat in pan. Add spaghetti sauce and bring to a simmer and cook for about 15 minutes. Pour over dough in pan and add 1 cup of cheese. Pinch seams on remaining can of dough to form rectangle and place over filling, stretching to fit if necessary. Sprinkle with reserved cup of cheese and bake for about 25 minutes or until browned and bubbly.
