Ginger Garlic Grilled Chicken

One of my favorite parts of the warmer weather is being able to grill. I absolutely love cooking out and don’t relegate it to the weekends only.

We probably grill burgers more often than anything else because we love hamburgers hot off a charcoal grill. But, I do like adding some marinated chicken once in awhile.

Ginger Garlic Grilled Chicken is adapted from another recipe of mine- Ginger Garlic Grilled Pork Chops. The marinade is super simple to throw together and the longer the chicken in there the more flavorful it is. This batch was marinated for about 36 hours because it rained the night I had planned to grill.

  • 4 small boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce low sodium is fine
  • 3 cloves garlic finely minced or pressed
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger grated or finely minced
  • 2 Tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1/4-1/2 teaspoon sriracha chili sauce


  1. Place the chicken breasts  in a glass or plastic bowl with a lid or a zip top bag

  2. Combine other ingredients and whisk until sugar is dissolved
  3. Pour over chicken. Close bag or cover bowl with lid

  4. Refrigerate 8 hours or overnight
  5. Grill over medium heat for 6-7minutes per side or until meat thermometer reaches 165 F

  6. Remove from heat and let rest for 3 minutes before serving
