Creamy Ranch Skillet Potatoes

Creamy Ranch Skillet Potatoes are super easy and tasty.

Creamy Ranch Skillet Potatoes are easy and delicious. Potatoes are cooked in a ranch seasoned sauce until tender.

Potatoes are my favorite non dessert carb. I love pasta, rice, and bread but there is just something about potatoes that speak to me. Seriously, instead of naming all the ways to cook shrimp I could wax poetic of all the potato deliciousness possible.

We eat potatoes several times a week so I am always trying new recipes beyond the traditional mashed, roasted or fried varieties. One of my favorite parts of this recipe is it goes so well with a bunch of main dishes. Really. The night I made the batch pictured we had them with pintos and franks. As in hot dogs, people.

I used my homemade ranch dressing and seasoning mix but you can always use a packet from the store. We just really like the homemade a thousand times more than  store bought.

This post is going to be a bit more photo heavy than normal. I want to make sure that my medium sized potato is the same size as yours so I took a picture of the potatoes I used. I also wanted you to see how thick I sliced the potatoes.

Creamy Ranch Skillet Potatoes

Take 3 to 4 medium sized potatoes

Medium sized potatoes

Peel and slice the potatoes. I like to slice the potatoes in half vertically before cutting across. It makes the potatoes more stable which means I am far less likely to cut myself. It also allows thinner slices.

Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add in the onions and cook until tender.

Sprinkle the onions with flour and whisk until combined. Cook until lightly golden.

‘Whisk in the milk and the ranch seasoning and bring to a simmer.

Gently add the potato slices and stir.

Cover and cook for 25 to 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes, or until tender

Season to taste with salt and pepper
