I actually made the recipe for this week. Of course I can never follow the recipe exactly. I’d had every intention of cooking the chicken outside on the barbecue grill until my two year old nephew came over. The grill is right where he likes to play and it wasn’t worth the worry of him being burned to cook it on the grill when I have a grill pan.

My mom and I loved this. I think I may have gotten a bit basil happy because it started tasting a little perfumey towards the end of the meal but it was delish. It is definitely a keeper recipe. Honestly I probably would never have made it if it hadn’t been one of the selections but I am glad it was chosen.



Basil Grilled Chicken- My Girl, Paula for July 27 2009

Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 20 minutes

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 Tablespoon dried basil
  • 4 Tablespoons butter , melted
  • To taste salt
  • To taste coarse black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder


  1. Mix together the basil and melted butter. Season the chicken breasts with salt, coarse black pepper and the garlic powder.
  2. Grill chicken over medium heat, basting with the basil butter until chicken has reached an internal temperature of 165 degrees. You can also cook this in a grill pan over medium heat

  1. Well I’m glad you all liked it! It looks great. I think I’m the only one who didn’t. Maybe next time I will just try thicker chicken breasts.

  2. Funny you mentioned that you probably wouldn’t have chose this recipe on your own. I feel the same way!! It just doesn’t sound real exciting compared to some of her other recipes. However, it thought it was delicious!! Loved it and will be making it again and anytime I need a good Italian flavored chicken breast. Yours looks delicious. I have a 2 year old son, so I know how it is with the grill. Nice pic!!
