When Jessica of Life as MOM and Good Cheap Eats announced she was writing a freezer meals cookbook I was thrilled. I love getting new cookbooks and I didn’t have one dedicated to freezer friendly foods.

 

Since the book was released pretty close to my birthday my very awesome mom bought a copy as my birthday gift. Since she got to eat the tamales I made using the recipe in the book I’d say the gift was just as much for her.

 

In addition to the 200 plus recipes in the book, Jessica also has ready made plans for freezer cooking days and also takes you through planning your own day using your own recipes which makes the book perfect for any stage once a month cook from novice to seasoned pro.

Another bonus of the cookbook is the bulk of the recipes are new. One of the downfalls of a lot of food blogger to cookbook author’s first books is a lot of the ones I’ve looked at are mostly the blog in printed form with very few new recipes. Not so in this case.

In addition to the tamales I mentioned a couple of paragraphs above I’ve also made the Shepherd’s Pie with Green Chile Mashed Potatoes, both apple pie recipes, burrito pizza, and more.

 

I would recommend Not Your Mother’s Make-Ahead and Freeze for anyone regardless of your stance on freezer cooking because the recipes are just that good.   As far as I’m concerned the freezer friendly aspect is just a bonus.
