Green Chile Cheeseburgers: Secret Recipe Club

Green Chile Cheeseburgers from www.cookingmimi.com. Seasoned ground beef topped with chopped green chiles and pepper Jack or Colby Jack cheese are a great change from the usual cheeseburger.

It’s time for my last Secret Recipe Club reveal for 2013. I love being in the SRC and trying new recipes. This month I was assigned Jenna’s Cooking Journey.

The first recipe that caught my attention was German Chocolate Cake Brownies but I already have half a dozen sweets planned for this month I decided to go in a savory direction. When I saw Jenna’s post for Green Chile Cheeseburgers I knew I had a winner.

There isn’t much I like better than a good homemade burger. Add in diced green chiles and pepper Jack cheese and I’m in heaven. These burgers turned out amazing. I did have to leave out the cilantro since it tastes weird to me and I added in garlic powder because it’s in all my burgers.

Green Chile Cheeseburgers: Secret Recipe Club

Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground chuck
  • Hefty pinch of kosher or coarse sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin
  • A few grinds of black pepper
  • 1 small can of chopped green chiles
  • 4 deli slices Pepper Jack or Colby Jack cheese
  • 4 buns
  • lettuce
  • tomato
  • onion
  • mayonnaise

Instructions

  1. Combine the ground chuck, salt, garlic powder, cumin, and pepper together.
  2. Form into 4 even patties. Grill or fry turning once if needed until meat reaches 165 degrees.
  3. Top with green chiles and cheese. Let patties rest until cheese melts.
  4. Assemble and serve.
