Fried green tomatoes are one of those side dishes I didn’t fully appreciate until I was grown. These are one of my favorite treats, indulged in at my favorite meat and three restaurant as a side with beef tips in gravy over rice.
I haven’t made them at home in years. When I noticed the grocery store had a display of the green beauties I knew it was time to whip up a batch.
I remember when my mama made fried green tomatoes when I was growing up. She’d fry two or three and eat one. Needless to say she didn’t eat whatever supper was that night because she was full from eating the tomatoes
Since we moved our local Mom and Pop grocery store carries green tomatoes all year long so I don’t have to wait until summertime.
